The Brief
Woods is a successful family owned furniture business operating in Dorchester, Dorset for the last 140 years. With a new retail and residential development planned for the other side of town Woods jumped at the opportunity to occupy the flagship store at the head of the project.

We were the main contractor of the interior design retail project to include design concept, space planning, shop fitting and installation.

The brief was to create a space with a step change to their high street traditional location, focussing on selling a more contemporary and scandi range of furniture. The flow around the space was broken up with a central ‘market place’ flanked in black metal critall style framework that allowed views through the space as well as acting as a shelving system for display.

The main sections bore large structural oak arches to connect centre to perimeter with up lighting to define – you could imagine yourself in a new dining, living or bedroom space!

The Solution
Working under the main contractor for the complete residential and retail development, we managed the 6 week programme from shell to handover – including a new poured screed, full mechanical extract and ventilation system, flooring, ceiling and lighting.

We executed the interior design project so well that the client immediately saw the benefit and took up the retail unit next to it within 6 months to extend their offer further.
